Bio Albums Gallery Listen Watch

Tony HernandoTony Hernando is a Spanish guitar player. He was born and grew up in Salamanca, Spain. His first contact with music was at the Superior Conservatory of music in his hometown when he was 9 years old, studying music, theory, singing and classical guitar for about 8 years. After a few years playing electric guitar selftaughing through songs from Iron Maiden,Ozzy, Satriani, Yngwie, etc,...he starts teaching privately while also attends IMT school in Madrid, where he meets some great fusion and jazz teachers who introduce him to that genre of music. After two years, he finally "goes Hollywood" for studying at Musicians Institute's G.I.T., where Brett Garsed, Scott Henderson, Dan Gilbert, Paul Hanson were his teachers among others.

“But it was the fact that when I was not attending the school, I spent all the time taking private lessons or assisting to seminars and clinics with some of the greatest musicians, like Mike Stern, Brett Garsed, Scott Henderson, Derek Sherinian, Tony Macalpine, Frank Gambale,...and most important, my experience as private student of Joey Tafolla, the key for my development as professional guitarist- I used to go to his place every weekend; the lessons were great and pretty hard, and we became good friends.
When I came back to Spain was very hard deciding what to do, I had to assimilate all I learnt in Los Angeles and prepare myself for becoming a competitive musician, teacher and producer”.

Tony HernandoTony started teaching guitar lessons at different schools and privately, having enormous sucess and writing guitar articles and columns for various magazines, while he also started as endorser for music companies such Ibanez and Line 6. He also had the chance of studying personally with Andy Timmons and John Petrucci.
In 2000 Tony produces his first solo album entitled “High”, and lot of clinic shows for Ibanez and Line6 and seminars follow.

In 2001 starts writing the music for the 2nd album ,which was not recorded until 2002 waiting for the extraoridinare and Tony's favorite drummer Mike Terrana.Very special guests like Andy Timmons and keyboard player Vitalij Kuprij are also playing in the album, released by Lion Music and entitled “The shades of truth”.

More clinics and live performances with his own band and other parallel projects keep Tony busy during most part of 2003, ending up with the GuitarFest tour with Andy Timmons and Freak Kitchen and playing at JemFest UK in London on October.
During most part of 2004 Tony is producing the new album, focusing specially in good, big compositions and sound quality.
Right before the release of “III”,the second edition of Tony´s GuitarFest takes place in November 2004, sharing the bill with longtime friend, brother and inspiration- William Stravato and world class guitarist Richie Kotzen.
Tony´s 3rd solo album entitled “III”, is released in the begining of 2005 by Lion Music, and features Mike Terrana on drums again. An incredible step further in terms of composition and production, “III” is Tony's definitive album. Soon is getting reviews as "best guitar album of the year".
Official promo tour for "III", with no other than Mike Terrana on drums takes places during two different tours in 2005, first in May with Freak Kitchen as special guests and second as part of another GuitarFest edition with Andy Timmons Band.
