May 2009 USA
IT MIGHT GET LOUD Film Release.
Opens in New York and Los Angeles 14th of August

It Might Get Loud FilmWho hasn't wanted to be a rock star, join a band or play electric guitar? Music resonates, moves and inspires us. Strummed through the fingers of The Edge, Jimmy Page and Jack White, somehow it does more. Such is the premise of It Might Get Loud, a new documentary conceived by producer Thomas Tull. It Might Get Loud isn't like any other rock'n roll documentary. Filmed through the eyes of three virtuosos from three different generations, audiences get up close and personal, discovering how a furniture upholsterer from Detroit, a studio musician and painter from London and a seventeen-year-old Dublin schoolboy, each used the electric guitar to develop their unique sound and rise to the pantheon of superstar. Rare discussions are provoked as we travel with Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White to influential locations of their pasts. Born from the experience is intimate access to the creative genesis of each legend, such as Link Wray's "Rumble’s" searing impression upon Jimmy Page, who surprises audiences with an impromptu air guitar performance. But that's only the beginning. While each guitarist describes his own musical rebellion, a rock'n roll summit is being arranged. Set on an empty soundstage, the musicians come Jack White, Jimmy Page and The Edge in a Jam Sessiontogether, crank up the amps and play. They also share their influences, swap stories, and teach each other songs. During the summit Page’s double-neck guitar, The Edge’s array of effects pedals and White’s new mic, custom built into his guitar, go live. The musical journey is joined by visual grandeur too. We see the stone halls of Headley Grange where "Stairway to Heaven" was composed, visit a haunting Tennessee farmhouse where Jack White writes a song on-camera, and eavesdrop inside the dimly lit Dublin studio where The Edge lays down initial guitar tracks for U2’s forthcoming single. The images, like the stories, will linger in the mind long after the reverb fades. It Might Get Loud might not affect how you play guitar, but it will change how you listen. The film is directed and produced by An Inconvenient Truth's Davis Guggenheim, and produced by Thomas Tull, Lesley Chilcott and Peter Afterman.

ERIC CLAPTON and STEVE WINWOOD
(Limited Edition DVD/CD)

LIMITED EDITION 2-DISC CD/DVD FEATURING THEIR CAPTIVATING MADISON SQUARE GARDEN PERFORMANCE AVAILABLE MAY 19, 2009 FROM REPRISE RECORDS

Eric Clapton(New York, NY) – After their extraordinary sold-out three-nights at Madison Square Garden last year, Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood are set to release a 2-disc CD/DVD of their amazing performances on May 19, 2009 from Reprise Records.

The rock legends took the stage together for just three concerts in a highly anticipated collaboration, performing a string of hits that included Blind Faith’s “Presence of the Lord,” and “Can’t Find My Way Home,” in addition to Clapton’s classics “After Midnight” “Tell the Truth” and “Crossroads” and Steve Winwood’s “Dear Mr. Fantasy” and “Glad.”

Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood - Live From Madison Square GardenThe limited edition CD/DVD set also includes “The Road to Madison Square Garden,” an exclusive documentary which features interviews with both men, as well as rare footage and photographs of Cream, Traffic and Blind Faith.

Bonus performances on the DVD include “Lowdown,” “Kind Hearted Woman” and “Crossroads.” Both Winwood and Clapton have long and prestigious musical careers with countless honors and awards to their names. Their musical paths connected in 1969 with the formation of Blind Faith, a group that pioneered the fusion of rock and blues into tremendous studio and stage success. Despite critical and popular acclaim, the band was short-lived with only one album and a brief 1969 tour that debuted July 12 at Madison Square Garden and ended August 24th in Hawaii. Since that final show, Winwood and Clapton have remained friends, but had only performed together a few times over the years for an occasional song at a charity event.

The 2008 Madison Square Garden shows were the first full Winwood-Clapton concerts in 40 years. Steve Winwood is currently signed to Columbia Records and released an album of new music, "NINE LIVES" in 2008. Eric Clapton’s compilation album "Complete Clapton" was released in 2008 on Reprise Records.

PAT MARTINO TO HOST EXCLUSIVE ICMP MASTERCLASS

Pat MartinoOne of the world’s greatest jazz guitarists, Pat Martino, will follow Scott Henderson as the next legendary player to headline a series of masterclasses hosted by the Guitar Institute in London in association with Guitar Getaways Awaydays. After being involved in the early rock scene in Philadelphia alongside stars like Bobby Rydell, Chubby Checker and Bobby Darin, Pat Martino was recruited by bandleader Lloyd Price to play on-stage with musicians such as Slide Hampton and Red Holloway. He made a move to Harlem and was signed as a leader for Prestige Records when he was just twenty, leading to the creation of his classic albums ‘Strings!’, ‘Desperado’, ‘El Hombre’ and ‘Baiyina (The Clear Evidence)’, one of jazz’s first successful ventures into psychedelia.

After suffering a brain aneurysm causing him to lose all memory of guitar and his career, Pat made a remarkable recovery by studying his own historic recordings and returned to form on his instrument. With a distinctive, fat sound and gut-wrenching performances, he represents the best not just in jazz, but in music, embodying thoughtful energy and soul. This exclusive event, to be held at the Bedford in Balham, London, on the evening of Wednesday April 8th, will feature an interactive clinic delivered by Guitar Institute teachers Phil Capone (guitar), Holger Skepeneit (piano), Terry Gregory (bass) and Darren Ashford (drums). This will be followed by the headline guitar masterclass with Pat. This is a unique opportunity to hear legendary Pat Martino talk, play and demonstrate his craft which should not be missed. SCOTT HENDERSON TO HOST EXCLUSIVE ICMP MASTERCLASS

Scott HendersonOutstanding jazz, blues and fusion guitarist Scott Henderson is to be the next legendary player to headline in a series of masterclasses hosted by the Guitar Institute in London in association with Guitar Getaways Awaydays. This follows the hugely successful event featuring Larry Carlton at the end of last year. Scott Henderson’s impressive work over the years as co-leader of the group Tribal Tech, and as sideman for Chick Corea, Jean Luc Ponty and Joe Zawinul has elevated him to the front ranks of both jazz and blues. Scott’s trademark today, apart from being a world class player and premier composer, is his unique sound and striking ability to switch from wonderful, soulful blues to incredible, technical jazz.

The event, to be held at the Bedford in Balham, London, on the afternoon of Sunday March 29th, will feature an interactive clinic delivered by members of the Guitar Institute teaching faculty (part of London’s Institute of Contemporary Music Performance), including Gianluca Corona on guitar, Dave Marks on bass and Justin Scott on drums. This will be followed by the headline guitar masterclass with Scott. This is an unmissable event; Scott Henderson rarely visits the UK and this is his only UK masterclass date. To book a place at the masterclass, contact Guitar Getaways on:
