Lund, Sweden - Much to the anticipation of guitar aficionados around the world, on May 4, 2012, one of Sweden's youngest and most talented guitarists, Johan Randén, releases his third solo-album 'Summary' on Reingold Records, home to prog superstars the Flower Kings. 'Summary' is a musical journey that takes us through guitar picking à la Steve Morse in the country influenced track "Country Maniac", to beautiful bluesy and tasty woodwork à la Jeff Beck in "Floating Around". On this record Johan proves that he´s not only a guitarist but also a great songwriter and producer, with the guitar always in focus. Bengan Andersson, Sven Lindvall, Staffan Astner form the backbone of ”Summary”.

Welcome to guitarontheedge.co.uk. A "Reference Website" of some of the best guitarists out there. A few of them have passed away but they have left us with an irreplaceable music legacy, others retired, and many others still playing for us.

This is NOT a site to show to the world which guitarist is the best. This is a site where people have different opinions and preferences about a particular guitarist. You can vote for your favourite guitarists here and write any comments about who you think is worth a mention. Every hit in any particular guitarist page counts as one vote too!!

So you decide which guitarist is at the top of each style. Many guitarists could be classified in more than one style but I have tried to classify them in his/her predominant style.

We have the privilege to feature 95 of the greatests guitarists. My goal is to reach 100 guitarists and then leave it as it is. Unfortunately, due to lack of time, once I feature 100 guitarists, I will stop adding more. I may add ocasionally one or two a year if I think they are well worth to be part of the list.

I will create a list of other guitarists I wished I could have featured in this website; this list will come up once I reach the best 100 guitarists.

Just because these guitarists are featured in this web site, it doesn't mean they are the best in any case, but they are the most popular and the most considered by the majority of the people. If you see that your favorite guitarist is not on the top of the ranking or he/she is not in the list yet, don't panic! It doesn't mean that your guitar player is worse than the other ones; It only represents people's tendencies tastes. Guitarontheedge.co.uk doesn't compare guitarists. Each player is considered as a unique source of music. Best and worse are not contemplated in music and less in this website.
